Discussion:
what's better - LOD 9 or LOD 9 ?

My question is the following:

what if I install two sets of scenery, both containing mesh for the
same area ? normally FS chooses the high-res mesh, but what if both
have the same res ? (e.g. both are LOD 9)
Justin and others recently pointed out, that there is "better" LOD9
and "not so good" LOD9, depending on the level of interpolation and
such ... so ... do I have to put the sceneries in the right order in
the scenery manager ?

Interesting question. Justin has said, if I remember correctly, that FS9
will load and use the best LOD available when it displays terrain. It may
do that by simply plotting all mesh and using the highest/lowest altitudes
for display, thus overwriting less dense information. I would guess that
the same would apply with LOD 9. There wouldn't be a conflict as such, but
the better mesh should "win". To be safe, I would place the better mesh
higher up in the scenery list if you must include both.

Justin, help!

It might be wrong Tini, but I suppose the hierarchy in the scenery.cfg
would decide the winner.

You will have to choose the best looking, or at least the most accurate
scenery, manually. I don't think FS can judge the quality of the data
between two files with the same LOD.
