It depends on the tweaking you want to do.
If it's runways, airport frequencies, holding points etc that you want to
work on, AFCAD will be a big help.

If it's your intention to look inside the BGL and alter scenery parameters
like coordinates and such, I don't think you can.
But I've been wrong before. :-)

Hi DSB:

Take a look at the following:

BGLAnalyze is a VisualC++ program to analyze and disassemble BGL
files. The present version will disassemble to SCASM code. You will
need SCASM version 2.85 or higher to reassemble the code, because the
program uses the instruction set of this latest version, which can be
obtained from http://www.scasm.de. This version (3.1) has been updated
to include the ability to disassemble scenery files that contain vtp
and lwm code.

BGLXML is an utility which analyzes and decompiles BGL files into
FS2004 format and produces human readable XML files to be recompiled
with Microsoft BGLCOMP (available from our FS2004 SDK page). It fully
supports almost all options included into new BGL file format, it is
also able to extract .MDL files from ModelData sections. Now includes
XMLSHELL, a GUI program for controlling bglxml from Windows Explorer.

EASYNAVS - Extract and edit ILS, VOR, NDB and markers from FS2000 and
FS2002 BGL files. Compile navaids databases to stand-alone BGL's. New
4.00 version (FS2002 and windows XP compatible). Runway information
module included. Requires VB5 runtime files and Adobe Acrobat reader
to read and print the enclosd pdf documentation

One final note of caution; the programs mentioned are in a constant
state of development, therefore itÂ’s always in your best interest to
secure the latest version available.

All have a learning curve... practice does make perfect.

I hope this helps in some small way, visit the URL below (see sig),
for utilities mentioned, and for additional ideas and suggestions.

Good luck

Thanks to Zoepetier & T. & D. Gregor, Sr for taking time out to reply.
SCASM working now with the addition of more VB runtime files. Thanks T&D
Gregor for the great info & links. It is bookmarked for reference.

Thanx again and best wishes
